Central Street - "Open-Air Architectural Art Museum"

Central Street was established in 1898, which was almost founded at the same time as Harbin. With centennial accumulation of cultural heritage and unique European style, Central Street has become a tourist check-in spot in the city.


On August 1st, the outdoor scene of Central Street in Harbin features a variety of architectural styles. The unique 

European style has earned this century old street the reputation of being an "open-air architectural art museum".

Central Street, with a total length of 1450m, is paved with over 870,000 breadstones. There are diverse architectural styles within the block, covering influential architectural schools in Western architectural history such as the Renaissance, Baroque, Eclecticism, and Art Nouveau from the 15th to the 19th century in Europe. The unique charm has earned this century old street the reputation of being an "open-air architectural art museum". Reputed for its block as the exhibition area, and the building as the exhibit. Central Street is the first open and public architectural art museum in China. For the convenience of tourists, the information of each building in the block is designed in the form of a QR code, so tourists can scan the code to listen to the building, see the building, read the building, and explore the "past and present" of the old building.

A street, with a history of over a hundred years, has experienced several generations. On this old street, there are the ruins of the first Party Congress in Northeast China, Harbin International Transport Bureau, Tianma Advertising Agency... The "modern and fashionable" Modern Hotel on the street is the site of the preparation activities for the new CPPCC and the liaison office of the first National CPPCC Conference in Harbin.

Central Street is particularly "integrated" - a hundred years ago, it blended architectural and commercial elements from many countries; The ongoing neighborhood renovation project is also playing the "integration card" again - introducing European style characteristic brands from Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium and other countries, as well as characteristic industries from Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asian countries, allowing tourists from all over the world to experience the unique integration of multiple cultures on Central Street.

On August 3rd, tourists watched a balcony concert performance on Central Street. In 2008, Central Street held its first 

balcony concert, and now the rich and diverse music performances have become a new cultural label for Central Street.

 popsicles are internet celebrity food onCentral Street and have been sold well for many years.

Last year, "Erbin" became popular in the ice and snow season, and the popularity of Central Street also reached a new level. During this year's May Day holiday, Central Street received over 2.6 million tourists, ranking among the top ten "hottest" commercial districts in the country. In the first half of the year, the passenger flow on Central Street reached 69.43 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.72%.

 Central Street in Harbin, which gather classic architectural styles from the 15th to 19th centuries in Europe.

There is ice and snow in winter, flourishing flowers in summer, as well as the scenery all year round on the Central Street. In addition to cultural symbols and historical memories, the street, whose changes are in line with the pace of Harbin's economic development, is showcasing the vitality and energy of today's "Erbin".
